Kremer Homeschool Bible Resources is dedicated to teaching God’s Word in its truth and
purity. All homeschool Bible study materials are written by degreed Christian educators.
Our mission is to make God’s word understandable and applicable to today’s younger generation. As
Psalm 78:5-7 says, “He commanded our ancestors to teach their children,so the next
generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn
would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget
his deeds but would keep his commands.”

The study of the Apostles of Jesus Christ is certainly an intriguing topic. As we grow older and become closer to Jesus, we also establish a relationship with Jesus’ followers, especially those
given the responsibility of establishing the new Christian church. It’s almost as if these Men on a
Mission became our friends and companions.
We got to know Matthew, whose real life began as
he left his tax-gathering business. We followed Peter as he stepped out of a boat onto a stormy
sea. We knew Thomas, of course, as the one who doubted that Jesus had truly risen. We
discovered that John was a favorite of the master, and James, of course, was a hard working
fisherman. Judas was the man we all grew to despise for his betrayal of the Lord. Yet as familiar as
these men seem to be, it is remarkable how little is actually written about them in the Bible. For
instance, after Matthew’s call to be a disciple, he is never mentioned again. Several of the Twelve
never spoke a single word in the gospel accounts, and after Jesus’ ascension, with the exception of
a few, we never again hear about them or their ministries.
This Bible study is designed to give some
insight as to who these men were. We will try to establish a sense of character and personality for
each. Certainly there is some conjecture and some speculation, especially in relation to their later
ministries, many of which appear only in later writings and traditions.
