It was to be a time of many struggles! Joseph had brought his family to Egypt during a great famine. Now
more than four hundred years later, God’s chosen people were stranded in Egypt and treated as slaves. It
seemed as if the Lord had left them. But God never forgets his people. When his time was right, he called
Moses to lead his chosen people back to their homeland.
In this study we will walk in the sandals of these people as they leave the oppressive land behind and begin
their journey back to the Promised Land. Sadly, because of their sin and disobedience, that journey was
about to last forty long and difficult years.
As we study Egypt to Canaan: The Longest Forty Years, we will discover numerous comparisons with our
walk through life as God’s chosen people. Like the Israelites, the Lord is leading us until we finally reach our
destination, our Promised Land.
